#SolarSummer

Summer officially arrives on June 20th! Many already feel the heat of summer and many are longing for that heat - or - on the other side want Fall to come quickly. Summer is my favorite season! I love the abundance of sunshine! Daylight Savings Time was created for me. Knowing the light will be shining as I finish yoga each evening, gives me the opportunity to relish in the light longer each evening.

In honor of Summer we will focus on the Solar Plexus Chakra. The solar plexus chakra, sometimes called the Naval Chakra because of it's location in the abdominal region, is the third chakra in the seven chakra system. The Solar Chakra color is yellow or golden yellow and has the Sanskrit name, Manipura.

The element of this Chakra is Fire - connecting with sun, heat, energy of light and all forms of power. This chakra is often connected with the digestive system. When our Solar Chakra feels balanced we may find harmony in our relationships, feel assertiveness, and shine in leadership. When we feel imbalance in this area we often allow others to control us leading to feelings of helplessness or we can end up being manipulative in our behavior misusing our power of those around us.

For the arrival of the Summer Solstice, we will have a 7 day Yoga Pose Challenge! These poses all work with the Solar Plexus Chakra, generating heat or stimulating power in the body - making the core work!

The pictures for this challenge were taken in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. My husband and I recently visited this beautiful city. Coming from the heat of Texas into the cool of Canada was a bit of an adjustment - and I needed to generate heat in my body! We stayed in the beautiful Inner Harbour at the Empress in the heart of this amazingly clean and nice city. One of our highlights was visiting the beautiful Butchart Gardens - which is an excellent example of bringing beauty - out of devastation - into the world.

The beautiful fountain and shields I posed in front of represent the Provincial Shields and Coats of Arms for all of Canada. This garden, along with many others in the area, were created to improve the area's ambiance while showing national pride.

There are always options for each pose. Included in the collage are 2 options for the pose of the day for this fun week challenge. Choose one of the pics in the collage or a variation your body feels best about, and share with me!

To participate in this fun week challenge -

1) Share the information about this challenge with your friends and family - invite others to share in the fun with you

2) Each day share your body's variation of the pose of the day. This can be a pic or video - by yourself or with a friend - have fun! - but - be sure to share it with me so I can see all the fun! Tag me @clarissapyeattyoga (@ symbol not # symbol will tag me) on either Facebook or Instagram, along with the #SolarSummer
